On Sunday, the state of Texas revealed there were zero deaths from COVID-19 only two months after Republican Governor Greg Abbott received a lot of criticism from the White House for rolling back business restrictions and lifting Texas’ mask mandate.
This was the first time Texas was able to report no COVID-19 deaths in 14 months according to state health data. The governor said that the numbers that were reported Sunday, about 388, were the lowest in over 13 months. It was also the lowest number of hospitalizations in 11 months.
Back in March, President Joe Biden ripped on Texas and Mississippi for lifting mitigation measures including lockdowns and mask-wearing, accusing Texas state officials of “Neanderthal thinking.” That was before Americans started to realize that the Biden administration was screwing up the country royally, the realization of which forced the CDC to do a complete 180 on wearing masks and social distancing if you were fully vaccinated. Many believe it was politically motivated. White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy if Biden still believes Texas and Mississippi’s decision was neanderthal thinking now that they agreed with them for the rest of the country. After much bloviating, she never did answer the question.
